Project story · Outdoor living
Creating privacy without closing the garden in.
The challenge with many Auckland sections is balancing neighbour privacy with limited outdoor space. A heavy boundary can make a small garden feel even smaller, while an exposed deck rarely becomes the relaxed living area a family imagined.
Our approach is to treat the deck and fence as a single composition. Board direction, fence height, sightlines and planting zones work together. Screening is concentrated where it is needed most, allowing light and greenery to remain part of the outlook.
An outdoor room that feels sheltered and generous, with durable timber structure and enough softness around the edges to keep the garden feeling open.
